Yoshimura Rakunyu is a potter specializing in Raku ware, a particular type of Kiyomizu ware.
We focus on black and red Raku tea bowls, which have been valued in the tea ceremony since the time of Sen no Rikyu,
We produce gorgeous painted tea bowls.
The Yoshimura family has been engaged in the manufacture of pottery and whetstones in Kyoto since the Meiji era (1868-1912), and pottery has been their main business since Rakunyu I began,
The Yoshimura family has been producing tea ceremony utensils such as matcha bowls and ornaments since the Meiji era (1868-1912). The name "Rakunyu" has been passed down from generation to generation, with the current generation being the third.

Born in Kyoto as the eldest son of Yoshimura Rakunyu

Graduated from Doshisha University, Faculty of Economics

Completed the course in ceramics for successors of traditional industries at the Kyoto Municipal Industrial Research Institute

Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Training School, Molding Course
Studied under his father, Rakunyu, until the present

Selected and exhibited at the Kyoto Kiyomizuyaki Paris Exhibition (Paris)
Since 1989
Founded "Rakunyu-Gama" and currently presides over the kiln.

Received the "Shusei" seal from the monk Kumagai Ryusho of Sennyuji Temple, and used it from then until the succession of his name.
2001
Certified as a traditional craftsman
2004
Succeeded to the Yoshimura Rakunyu name.
At the same time, he changed his name to "Manpukudo" and held a solo exhibition at Daimaru Shinsaibashi, Osaka.
Held solo exhibitions in various locations thereafter.
