Botanicalflower Gray（/fan/fun）

This is a paper fan created in collaboration with the Osaka kimono manufacturer, Torie. The term "botanical" currently refers to anything plant-related, but it originally described a time when Europeans explored distant lands in search of rare plants. In the absence of photographs, botanists partnered with artists to create scientifically accurate and detailed illustrations of unusual plants and herbs. This art form became particularly popular in the 19th century in England and France. What started as essential research eventually evolved into art and fashion!

Taking inspiration from this historical context, the fan is designed in a convenient size (approximately 22 cm) for easy portability. The front of the fan features a pearl color applied by artisans using brushes, while the back is finished with a technique called "shikebiki." Each time you fan yourself, it reflects a beautiful sparkle.

The fan pouch is designed for side access. This fan is produced by Kyo Minoya, which has been crafting fans using traditional techniques since its founding in 1894. We hope you enjoy using our fan in your daily life, find joy in fanning yourself, and become a fan of fans!
